Why learn how to speak French? A better question would be, "why not?"
French is a noble language. For thousands of years, it was spoken by kings, peasants, and philosophers. It is the language of innovation and discovery, the parlance of the Seine and the Eiffel, the cradle in which the concept of egalite, liberte, and fraternitas took root, flourished, and crossed oceans to reach the country we now know as the United States of America. For centuries, French had been more than just a mother tongue; it was an idea, a way of life, a revolution and evolution of all that is open-minded, liberal, and just in a society.
